Four-Year Cycles
A little over four years ago, I decided to run for President in the 2008 campaign. I headed up to New Hampshire to campaign mainly because the primary was already over and I didn’t have to worry about any of the other candidates stealing my thunder. I was alone in my hotel room on Valentine’s Day 2008 after a long day of campaigning. After watching the local news, I realized that my campaign wasn’t making any traction. I pulled out my laptop and decided to blog about my campaign. “Alone in New Hampshire” was my first entry, four years ago today. It was a very short entry, mostly with a rough video I had made and uploaded to YouTube.
The first month was rough. There were days when nobody visited my website. I kept blogging anyway, thinking that someday I would write something that people would be looking for. My first break came when I had to cancel a portion of my campaign trip because my sea monkey passed away. Apparently, I am not the only person who had to deal with the sudden loss of a pet. I was suddenly getting 10-20 hits a day.
My next break came soon after the 2008 election. Many people were disappointed with the results and wanted to see who the prospective candidates were going to be for 2012. I had announced my intention to run in 2012 the day after the 2008 election. I wasn’t about to spend any money on my campaign like I did in 2008. (The $.60 I spent on copying posters proved to be futile.) People looked for 2012 candidates on search engines and my blog was one of the first to pop up on many sites.
My biggest break came from Billy Mays. He brought an additional 20 hits to my blog every day until his death. In the days following his death, when people were searching Billy Mays material on the web, the average shot up to over 500 hits per day.
These numbers might not be impressive to many people (and they’re not to me), but I have learned that a large portion of that is because this is a politics blog and people don’t really like politics and will only go to a political blog when they want information (usually after people find out they’ve been screwed yet again.)
What I have learned is to expand my base. In addition to this blog, I have a YouTube channel, a BlogTalk Radio show, a Ustream show, A Facebook and Twitter profile and also a fan page on Facebook. Though I have expanded by leaps and bounds, this blog continues to be the backbone of my campaign and will continue to be until next January when I begin blogging from whitehouse.gov.
Happy Birthday Blog!
Tomorrow will be the one year anniversary of this blog. It started on a cold winter night in New Hampshire. It was not a good start to the campaign trail. People were not impressed with my message or with my celebrity endorsements. The trip home was long and agonizing, compounded by my falling asleep on the bus and ending up in Syracuse. I got involved in a ruckus at a PETA meeting when I brought fried chicken. I wasn’t invited to any debates. The month never got better; in fact, it got worse when Fluffy died.
Instead of giving up, I kept marching on. I figured if enough people heard my message, I would get supporters, which would lead to votes. I caught my first break when a poll showed I was more popular than Jesus Romero de Caballo. It lead to people writing about me from places besides this blog.
The more I campaigned, the more people came to hear me speak. People were starting to get excited about my campaign until the incident in Louisville. The campaign fluttered for months but picked up steam again soon after Election Day. Three-quarters of you made your first visit after Election Day. I thank you for being here now. We have over 3 1/2 years until the 2012 elections. This will give us plenty of time to get recognition and to win the White House for America.
The links below are the stories which brought the most of us together and are the most popular entries of the last year. Whether you have been reading for the last year or this is your first visit, I thank you for stopping by and for your support.

“The Titanic” and the Evilness of the CineMafia
“The Titanic” won an Oscar for “Best Picture” in 1997. It was bad enough that the Motion Picture Academy overlooked such timeless classics as “Liar Liar” and “Men in Black.” But it somehow managed to beat the other nominated movies of 1997, including “Good Will Hunting” and “The Full Monty.” Both of those movies were better movies.
Picking the wrong movie isn’t what makes the CineMafia evil. The evilness comes from them deciding to re-release the movie in theaters this weekend. The evil comes from the timing of the re-release. Sunday will be the 100th anniversary of the Titanic sinking. The CineMafia thought it would be a good time to celebrate the sinking of the Titanic and the death of 1,514 people and make a few bucks while celebrating. The movie will be in the traditional 2-D as well as in 3-D.
It is reasons like this why I have been boycotting major movies and have fighting the CineMafia as the foundation of my presidential campaign. When the CineMafia is not celebrating death, they are turning 14-year old girls like Brittney Spears and Lindsay Lohan into underaged sex symbols only to toss them aside when they turn 18 and watch their lives turn into a train wreck.
I am the only presidential candidate who dares to take on the CineMafia and all the evil that it is. Evil has flourished for too long and it is time to put an end to it. Don’t see “The Titanic” or any other CineMafia production. Starve them of their revenue and hopefully the movies will start getting good again like they were before 1984. The more they are fed, the more evil they become. If you have to watch something about a shipwreck this week, I would suggest watching “Gilligan’s Island.” At least nobody died in the sinking of the S.S. Minnow.
