NFL 2009 Division Round Playoffs
I actually had a good week picking last week’s games, going 3-1. After getting the Jets-Bengals game wrong to start the weekend, I rung up three consecutive wins. If I keep this up, I could replace Frank Caliendo on Fox’s Pre-Game show or Elinor Clift on The McLaughlin Group.
Arizona Cardinals (+7) at New Orleans Saints
What happens when two high-powered offenses collide? The game usually becomes a defensive struggle. The Saints will probably win it, but it will be low scoring enough for the Cardinals to cover. Take the Cardinals and the points.
Baltimore Ravens (+6.5) at Indianapolis Colts
The focus will be on the Colts’ high octane offense against the Ravens’ stifling defense. The game will be decided though on the Colts’ unheralded defense stopping Ray Rice and flustering Joe Flacco often enough to force him to turn the ball and the Colts defense scoring a touchdown. Take the Colts and give the points.
Dallas Cowboys (+3) at Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings struggled at the end of the season while the Cowboys picked up steam. The football gods will rub more salt into Redskins’ fans wounds and make the Cowboys win in a laughter. Take the Cowboys and the points.
New York Jets (+7) at San Diego Chargers
Both teams come into this game as hot as global warming the sun. Mark Sanchez returns to the state where he was born and raised. He’ll do the things that need to be done to allow the Jets to win. (Hand the ball off to Thomas Jones, throw a screen pass to Thomas Jones, etc.) Take the Jets and the points.

Maybe I should run for Washington Redskins’ Head Coach instead of President. I hope the old guy the Redskins hired to call plays will do a better job than Jim Zorn did. Lost in the miserable year is how well the defense has been playing. If Dan Snyder is reading this and he is looking for a head coach, I proudly offer myself and my ideas.

Did I ever stink up the house! This is my worst picking this year. I couldn’t get a “best pick” correct last week. I am extremely disappointed in my Redskins. They were a three-and-a-half point underdog. I picked Carolina because they were due to break out. The Redskins did the double whammy by covering the point spread but not winning outright. Jim Zorn has to go!

I regressed just as I thought I was getting the hang of this. This looks easy until you actually try it. It’s just like performing open heart surgery. I was close to going a perfect 3-0 in best bets (stupid Bengals), but it wasn’t meant to be.

It was closer to a normal pattern with having a better percentage correct with best picks than overall for the week. My friends and family might hate me for the double whammy of going against the Redskins AND picking the Cowboys.

NFL Week 2 Predictions
Last week: 9-6 Season:9-6 (.600)
Best Bets: 1-2 Season: 1-2 (.333)
The NFL season started out weird as I picked almost two-thirds of the games correctly, but only 1/3 (1 game) of my best bets were correct. It seems that the way to go is to either pick what I pick or go against my “pick of the week.”
The question some are asking is why a presidential candidate is handicaping NFL football games. There are two reasons for this: One is that I am not afraid to risk my reputation as somebody who can predict things. The other is because of the ban on betting on the Laff-a-Lympics.

2011 – The Debacle (January-March)
“Duh, Winning!”
January:
2011 was a bad year all around. While the future of Egypt and Wisconsin were in balance, we were more concerned with Charlie Sheen and his goddesses. (I am guilty of the latter). I took a look on how Washington and the federal agencies will affect us in 2011. With the exception of us still having Saturday mail, I nailed it.

February:
A nightmare in my personal life. My bathroom all but exploded due to a leak from my upstairs neighbor’s bathroom. Both of my parents got hurt shoveling during a snowstorm and I had to take care of them for what seemed to be a month (but was only for three days.) My warnings of the Cinemafia started to show that on some things, I know what I am talking about.
March:
The “birthers” compelled me to show my birth certificate. I finally was mentioned on TV via one of my tweets. I also mentioned my “Getting America Back to Work” plan. But March was not too rosy for the campaign. I had forgotten to mention that the infamous “Walk-a-Thon for Affordable Entertainment Awareness” was canceled in October. I thought the almost daily blog entries since would have helped people figure that out, but it didn’t.
Tomorrow I will review April through June.
