Walk-a-Thon Update and Adjustments
The Walk-a-Thon for Affordable Entertainment Awareness will begin in a little over three months. It starts in Atlantic City on October 9 and will end in San Diego on April 4, 2011. Most of the nights I will be sleeping in a tent with my inflatable mattress. One noticeable exception will be on November 2. I will be in Pittsburgh at a soon-to-be-determined hotel for “Orgies for Abstinence III.”
I am having a custom designed cart built to carry the stuff I will need. It is like a regular shopping cart, except with tires durable enough for almost 3,000 miles of travel and the ability to push it through snow. It will also have a shelf that pulls out so I can continue working while I am in this walk-a-thon. (Six months without working is too long.) A hand brake is being installed so I can stop it and not worry about the cart rolling up and down mountains.
Below is a partial list of cities I will be stopping at along the way:
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Columbus
Indianapolis
St. Louis
Wichita
Guymon, OK
Albuquerque
Phoenix
Yuma
San Diego
Honolulu (Time Permitting)
If you are near the walking route and you would like for me to pass through your town, then feel free to send an e-mail by July 31. I want to have the route finalized and more details as to when I will be on any given day soon after.
Walk-a-Thon 2010-2011
I was unable to hold my walk-a-thon for Affordable Entertainment Awareness last year due to me breaking my ankle at Blanca Fest. Barring anything stupid (broken bones, death, incarceration, getting lost, etc.) happens, I will try the walk-a-thon again on October 9 in Atlantic City. I am hoping to be in San Diego by April 4, 2011. I will be blogging the events on days I am in an area with WiFi.
I am planning to attend the November 2 “Orgies for Abstinence III” in Bentleyville, PA( Just south of Pittsburgh). The location is not set in stone as I am planning on the possibility of making campaign appearances near the walk-a-thon route. If you are near the route and you want me to give a speech in your area, please let me know soon so I can make adjustments to the route.
The Entry I Didn’t Get to Write
I was hoping to write an entry called “You’re Only as Good as Your Last Game.” I was going to write about the Redskins 20-16 win in San Diego to end the season. I was going to write that the Redskins have laid the foundation for what promises to be a better 2010 season. I can’t write about that now. I can’t write about it because the Redskins didn’t end on a good note. They didn’t win 20-16. They lost 23-20 with 37 seconds left as the Chargers’ backup quarterback threw a touchdown to the fullback and handed the Redskins yet another loss. How many times does a fullback catch a pass? Only against the Redskins…
Redskins fans, rejoice! Not over the game, not over the season, but that Jim Zorn and the Bingo-calling offensive coordinator were finally shown the door. Hopefully Dan Snyder will hire somebody who knows how to coach. Don’t let Matt Millen anywhere near this organization! That would be the kiss of death. That would be the Waterloo of the Redskins’ organization just like losing to the Lions was the Waterloo of the 2009 season.
I hope the Redskins get Mike Shanahan to coach. But if things don’t work out with him, I would like to see somebody with head coaching experience in either the NFL or the NCAA.
Adjustments to Walk-a-Thon Schedule
For those familiar with my campaign, I have been planning a walk across the United States raising awareness about the entertainment industry and how unaffordable entertainment has become. The walk is supposed to start in October in Atlantic City and end in April in San Diego. However; with the meeting of Independent Presidential Candidates slated from November 14 to 21, I had to make some adjutments to the route. The adjusted map will be posted sometime within the next two weeks.
- I am still leaving from Atlantic City on Saturday October 10.
- Instead of walking all the way to San Diego directly, I will walk to Pittsburgh’s airport. I plan on making it to the airport in time to fly out on the 14th of November.
- I will fly back to Pittsburgh on the 21st and continue my trip from there.
- I am now scheduled to arrive in San Diego on April 17, which is after Opening Day for the San Diego Padres. I will be unable to throw out the first ball on opening day.
I am still looking for places to stop along the route. e-mail me if you want me to speak to your group about affordable entertainment.
The Walk-a-Thon is Back On
Due to logistical problems, I was unable to do the Walk-a-Thon for Entertainment Affordability Awareness like I wanted to. i will be doing the walk-a-thon in October. Here is a map.
There are a few differences between this plan and the one I had planned in January. One difference is that the trip will take longer than I originally thought. I thought I would be able to walk from Atlantic City to San Diego in a week. I now know it will take longer. I will be leaving Atlantic City on Columbus Day (October 12) at Noon. My plan is to make it to San Diego in time to throw out the first pitch in the Padre’s home opener in 2010. I would like to thank the Padres for the honor to throw out the first pitch in a home opener.
I should be in Indianapolis for Thanksgiving and Jefferson City for Christmas. If you happen to live near the route, come on and say “Hi.” If you’re not too far away, I will be honored to meet you and your friends spreading the awareness of affordable entertainment.
No Vacation
I was supposed to leave Des Moines tomorrow and head to San Diego for a week, but I decided to head home instead. It’s a gut feeling more than anything. There’s no reason for me not to go to San Diego, it’s just a personal decision made on a whim.
Some people are skeptical about somebody making decisions on a whim being President of the United States. I will have that problem remedied by having a highly-qualified cabinet. I will be in constant communication with my cabinet and they will console me so I can make informed and thought out decisions.
There is a problem I am having with the Rasmussen poll released yesterday. In their latest poll, Barack Obama narrowly beat Ron Paul 42-41%. I have no problem with that part of the poll. The problem I have is that they said 11% prefer “some other candidate.” Why can’t they say my name? Six percent of those polled were undecided. I believe a good portion of these people think I am not running for president and they couldn’t decide between Obama and Paul.
This isn’t the first time I have had issues with polling companies. They seem to ignore me when polling. For some reason, they are afraid of my becoming president so they never include me in their polls.
I was doing some work when I wasn’t campaigning. I will finish up both the campaigning and the work tonight. While I will be home instead of San Diego next, I should add that I probably won’t be doing much work. Any work that I do do will be done in the condo I am living in. I will save that decision until I come back tomorrow.
Tonight at 9:00PM Eastern (8:00PM here in Des Moines), I will be opening my virtual campaign headquarters for a brainstorming session. All are invited to attend and brainstorm along.
