Campaigning Snafus

I had spent the last couple days campaigning in my area.  There were a few people mad at me but I couldn’t understand why.  Then they told me.  They said I haven’t carried through on some of the things I have started.

The Walk-a-Thon for Affordable Entertainment Awareness: – I had forgot to mention that it was postponed.  Some supporters had gone to Atlantic City to meet me and wish me luck as I was to walk from Atlantic City to San Diego.  This was something I was originally going to do in 2009, but I had to postpone it then because of mistakes in calculations.  I thought that I would have been able to do it in a week.  And my secret was going to go from Louisiana to New mexico and bypassing Texas.  (I never figured out how I was going to do that.)  I had also broken my ankle just prior to the walk-a-thon.

Orgies-for-Abstinence:  The first two were very successful, the third wasn’t quite as successful, though it wasn’t a failure.  The problem is I didn’t set up for Orgies for Abstinence IV (Set for April 29) because I thought there would have been enough enthusiasm to have the regulars set it up without my help.  This is sadly not the case.  If you want to set up an official Orgies for Abstinence, remember that they are twice a year:  The Friday after Easter and Election Night.  (In 2011, the dates are April 29 and November 8.)

Ahmnodtpalooza – This was something that was kicked around in a telepathic conference call.  I decided against it when it was learned that Hall and Oates would not reunite for the occasion.  My decision for whatever did not reach others in the conference call.

I have learned my lesson.  I will carry through on things I start and before I start them I will make sure I am interested.

Oops!

For those of you who thought my radio show isn’t until tomorrow, you were correct.  I started flooding my Facebook and Twitter pages yesterday thinking that the show was last night.  The only problem was that the URL listing was for tomorrow’s show.

When the show started, there were fewer people in the chat room than normal.  This was mostly because I kept posting the wrong show.

Here is the link to last night’s show (You can listen to the archives if you wish) http://www.blogtalkradio.com/ahmnodt-heare/2010/05/07/open-lines

Here is the link to tomorrow’s show:

The only difference between the two links is the date, which I have in bold.  I had scheduled the show for tomorrow a while ago.  During the time since, I was thinking that the show was Friday.  I do not know why I scheduled a show for that late on Sunday as I have to drive home from Washington, DC.  It’s a five-hour trip.  A one-hour show means I am here in DC until 8PM and I won’t be home until 1 AM.  There is an 8AM meeting I have with a potential business client on Monday morning.  It could be my biggest client yet.

It could have been worse.  I could have scheduled the show for yesterday and not try to air until tomorrow.  I would have gotten a notice from BlogTalk Radio stating that after three show scheduled shows are not attempted that I would lose the show.  I had one last year as I tried to do a show on the road, but the hotel I was staying at had no internet service.  (I thought every hotel had internet, but I was wrong.)

Instead of thinking that yesterday’s show is tomorrow and that tomorrow’s show was yesterday, just remember that there was a show last night and that there will be a show tomorrow and the show will be open lines.

Teleprompter Snafu

I followed the advise of my advisors and bought a telepromper for my speeches.  I had it set up for a speech I was making at the Seniors Center in Honesdale, PA.  I wasn’t really making a speech on any policy.  I was the guest Bingo caller.  I had never used a teleprompter before, so I figured that today would be a good day to test it out.  The Teleprompter was made in Mexico by a company called “Leerados”  There were visual problems and the text was in Spanish.

The text was in Spanisn and seemed to jump out of the teleprompter.

The text was in Spanish and seemed to jump out of the teleprompter.

I ended up having to call the Bingo games without the teleprompter.  It was difficult at first, but I learned to read the balls like it was coming off of a teleprompter.

The Problem with Spontaneity

I was going to host a radio show at the last minute last night.  One of my supporters had suggested it would be a good idea to show America what I am like when I am not campaigning and pandering for votes.  The show was scheduled for 9PM Eastern time.  When it came time to host the show, I was unable to unlock the switchboard to air the program.  There were three people online waiting to shoot the breeze.  It was a disappointing night for the entire campaign team.

We will try again another night, probably next week.
